I was wondering about choosing truss rod lengths - there seem to be a few to choose from, looking to start from 610mm, and starting from a precision I have at the side of me, fingerboard side of nut to end of fingerboard is 600mm, so I am guessing it extends under the nut?
I'd also prefer to build with adjustment at the head end - what do I need consider there?

Thanks,

Do you need a curve in the slot if you use a double action truss rod?
Or perhaps, I should ask, is there a reason why Mark used a single action truss rod in the one piece neck instead of a double action one?

What is a good starting point for neck pocket nominal depth for bolt on necks using a hardtail or tele bridges? Neck blank/heel is at 25mm or 1 inch. Fretboard radiused at 5 1/2mm. Should I base it on the basis of the neck thickness (not the fretboard) to be 1/8inch proud off the surface of the body? That way thickness of the neck blank is non applicable. Is that a safe starting point to establish the 11.5-12mm string height with no neck angle?

Also appropriate body thickness for lenght of bolt on screws with plate and plate washer. Will it be unadvisable if the screws reach the fretboard a bit?

I am at this stage and I am doubting myself and decided to stop to seek some advice.

One of my last builds was a Tele, my first attempt on a bolt on parallel headstock and I simply just guessed and trusted my heart but seem to get it spot on. No longer have the guitar. It was shipped as a gift for my niece and did not take measurements prior.

The reason I ask is because the fence guide that comes with the gfk600 can’t be used in conjunction with the plunge base - the latter requires its own £75 (!) guide.

The only way for me to cut straight (short of making complex jigs) would be to pre drill and use the standard fence guide.

Hi Guys

Just looking for some advice/reassurance...I've just started fretting my first neck and am using stainless steel fretwire 2mm wide at crown and .9mm high....so far I'm pleased with progress, however, when I went to order some more fretwire for the next neck I could see all of the other sizes and options and am now worried that I may have used fretwire that is considered very low!! I am aiming to sell the guitars and obviously want soemhting appealing for customers to play. The guitars are telecasters with a 9.5" radius fretboard.

So my question is really to see what most people would reccommend for a tele, and hopefully get some reassurance that this size fretwire will be ok.

Cheers
