Neck taper pattern

I am working through making the jigs and patterns and my next job is the neck taper pattern. I was planning on making it a bit shorter than the one in Mark's course video. I plan on making one just a bit longer than the actually final length of the fretboard and neck. I suspect this will be ok. Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Sorry @mateyboy - you will need to make it longer! ? The Neck Taper Pattern will be used as a guide for the router to 'profile' the neck - it is not much use if it is shorter than the neck...don't worry it will all become clear as you progress - so far so good! ?

FYI: you can skip this if you like and do it by hand - a bit harder and slower but possible - it is all covered in the course...

@markbailey

I wasn't clear enough, I am making it longer than the neck but not as long as the one you made. I'll watch the video again. Thanks.

I made it this evening. The method I used (may help others, I dunno):

I cut it rough on the bandsaw, used a straight edge as a guide then routed it nice and straight along the edges:

Taper on Bandsaw
Taper post Bandsaw
Taper pre Rout
Neck Taper Pattern

Job done! 🙂
