Thanks Mark - I'm kinda alergic to Stewmac due to high prices AND import duty - once bitten, twice shy.

Do you mean 300ml? If not that seems a bit expensive ...30ml doesn't sound like it will go very far.

I remember 'back in the day' at the factory (yawn...) we used conductive paint that looked identical to the Stewmac stuff but it was German - on the tub it said 'Elektro-Daag'...I think...it was a long time ago...

Maybe that will be a clue that helps jog someones memory and someone out there knows something more...

Meanwhile the Stewmac stuff is pretty good but it does take 3 good coats to make it fully conductive.

edit: Your cheapest/best option is probably 'copper foil tape'

For plastic coverplates and scratchplates I have had success with self adhesive aluminium tape - normally used for taping insulation...

Electrodag 437 now by Loctite was Acheson - 8kg tub is £600.......

Looks good - thin layer works according to blurb - safe on plastic materials - maybe Bailey Guitars could buy in bulk and sell in small tubs.......... ? ? ? ? ? 

Just a point - when would you put something like this into cavities, before or after applying finish?

You can apply the shielding paint before or after finishing - but...

I usually attach a ground (earth) wire to the shielding paint - if it has been finished over then you would need to scrape off some finish to get a connection. That's how they did it back in the factory (sometimes believe it or not) but I prefer to leave it til after - then you can just screw the wire down to get a connection.

Also paint around the cavity cover recess and use foil on the coverplate to complete the shielded 'box'

Well done finding the Electrodag 437 £600 for 8kg? Lets see what happens...

Have found loads of DIY shielding paints on YouTube - all so far use graphite powder as the conductive element suspended in some kind of water based solution, sodium silicate in a couple of cases.

Will try to make some - my degree does say Chemistry.........
