You have to print it with a laser printer, but we have one at the hackspace. You're also supposed to use a heat press, but some people seem to do ok with a normal iron and I've looked and I think I could make a small headstock sized heatpress quite affordably (might be overkill for a single guitar, but maybe I can think of other projects to use it for)

I’ll have a look, maybe there are different brands I could try. Home crafted dry rub didn’t work well as it’s ultimately a big sticker. In the past, water slide ones have reacted badly with the finish coats.

@jonhodgson inlaying would be nice but don’t have the equipment to do that well by hand or access to a cnc. I’ve been looking at screen printing though and it seems you can get stuff to make the masks that is photo sensitive so I would still be able to print the design on the computer and let chemistry do the rest. I’ll post about it off that seems viable.

Other suggestion I had was a template and spray paint but the problem here is making the template accurate when you have to cut it with a craft knife just isn’t realistic for some of the design I want.

But I've just remembered that there is a little CNC sitting in our hackspace which I don't think has been fired up since it was brought in because noone's had a use for it.. but now I'm wondering if it would work for inlays. I have some very pretty gold coloured mother of pearl offcuts.

I'll have to look into it.
