@nsj Yeah, I probably would have got it more accurate in the first place but I had already drilled the holes for a standard neck plate and fitted the neck. I then changed my mind and went with the ferrules and threaded inserts. I tried to be as accurate as possible lining up the Forstner bit but obviously not good enough. This is what happens when I change my mind half way through something. 😆

I got mine out of aldi years ago, still going strong. Came with the snake attachment too which helps when I drill those ferrules off centre lol

I try and use a nice small bit to do pilot holes so the point of the forstner can centre itself if possible.

@nsj Yeah I realise a dremmel would be perfect for the job but I don’t have one. 😆

It’s probably about time I got one. The idea of sandpaper around a socket was just to solve the problem with what I had to hand, it worked. 😆

I might have a look on Temu for dremmel type thing. 👍

Hey @Boo while I remember, got these from tool station, pretty cheap but can be pretty handy. There's a little dremmel sized one in the kit too.

There are probably better tools for this job but if you haven't got them and you are in a bind, then try this.

I used a Forstner drill bit to create a recess for some neck ferrules. They were slightly off-centre from the screw holes so I needed to sand away the side of the holes to make the ferrules and better fit, especially as this guitar is being painted. I thought about how I could do it effectively and fast enough. I went to my socket set and chose one that was a smaller diameter than the ferrule holes. Next I used some double sided tape and stuck it around the socket. Then used that to stick some sandpaper on. I used a 1/4" drive adapter for my drill to power it. Then I went to work on it. It did the job.
