Don't think I've seen someone disassemble, and then rework, an acoustic in that way before.  

You must have been relieved that it sounded as good as you'd hoped after all that work!  Big congratulations.

I lived in Lanchester till I went to Poly (remember Polytechnics?) so I don't remember the Consett Mustang sorry - I do remember the day JFK died though; the day not the date - chronology is not really my forte.

Sorry Michael, I didn't mean to spook you! My wife is from Consett but you've got 10 years on her. Born the day Kennedy got assassinated although I'm pretty sure the two events weren't linked! Her Dad used to drive around in a soft top Mustang and there can't have been many of them in Consett at the time!

Good luck with your repairs and refurb's, you've got access to a great resource in this forum, I'm sure you'll find it very useful and supportive.

@michael-O’Connor Yeah, nice paint job on the Futurama and great looking box guitars. I am half way through making a box guitar but it’s taken a back seat right now as I’m moving house. 

You are going to learn a lot here using Marks video tuition and have fun talking to us all here in the forum. Good luck and enjoy yourself. 

Never actually built a full guitar Boo - just dabbled so far.

My son recently rescued my first electric guitar for me - a Futurama 3 which cost me 25 guineas in 1967. (It's lost the middle pickup) I sprayed it black about 30 years ago and it orange-peeled - yeuk! Thanks to Joe for the restoration back to red, though he's kept the black pickguard I made cos the original white one is long gone. We've made a few cigar box guitars between us as well and I've done a couple of mandolin soundboard repairs over the years. This is my first serious venture into acoustic guitar work.
