@tv101 No, I attribute certain dates to certain events in my life. I am dyslexic so my brain works differently. I did an honours degree as a mature student and graduated in 2013 so I bought myself the Fender Strat as a gift to myself. The Ibanez JEM I bought when I was on holiday in Northumberland in 2015 and I was rushed into hospital to have my appendix removed as it was about to explode; holiday ruined but got a cool guitar. 🤣

I think the last one I bought was in about 2015

@Boo - Impressed that you can remember the specific year!  I'm either too old with failing memory, or I (used to) buy too many guitars.

Before that I bought this American Fender Strat Deluxe 2013 model, I paid about £1,350 brand new in 2013

OK. Even more impressed now - 2013!

They rarely get played - they're not very accessible - and I think of them as a collection rather than as playing guitars.

@tv101 All of mine are working guitars and all get played. All except one were bought second hand and some were pretty beat up. That's OK though, they've earned those scars. I've no qualms against customizing them if I need to - usually just a pickup swap. One is a Strat that came to me as just a body and neck - no hardware or electronics at all. It's going to get sprayed a solid colour, as it's in a very unattractive mismatched natural atm. I can't decide on a colour though!

The only one I bought new is a Flying V, based on the '57 korina model. It's been my number one guitar, on and off, for the past 42 years or so.

Anyone else still *buying* guitars, and if so ... why?

@tv101 I think the last one I bought was in about 2015 because I’ve always wanted one from being a kid. This is my Ibanez JEM 77P in Black and Blue floral. Paid about £1,000 band new for it. I’m thinking of making one at some point, just because I know I can if I put my mind to it.

@Russ - I did own a Fender, once.  I had a Jazzmaster for about 3 days - took it as a part-trade for something I wanted to sell, and then sold it on really quickly afterwards!  Made a few Tele types, but never had a really one!  

Actually, I had a Strat for a while too, but that was years ago.
