@nsj Thanks Neil, Yeah the neck wood is some kind of “mahogany “ and my best guess is Gabon mahogany (okoume) but not at all sure.👍😃🎸

@liebe Yeah Timberline have some nice stuff, not cheap mind you and the prices are before VAT, so it’s a nasty surprise when the tax isadded!!🤣 If you’re seriously going to buy a bit foe experimenting on, go for the box maker’s wood it will be cheaper and (although a bit of pot luck) will probably contain some of the nicer grain to experiment on. Alternatively I probably have a few offcuts you’d be welcome to.

Likewise, not allowed to build any more unless they get sold. My problem is that I want to keep them!!🤣 Truth be told, I’m probably better at building them than playing them but get a great buzz out of building and playing......it’s a terrible affliction we’ve got🤣🤣

@brie ah yes, I know timberline but not ordered from them so far. Looks really nice, I may get a bit to experiment with.

If you have a garage or workshop they don't take up any space in the house until they're built. That buys a bit of time!

I'm not allowed to build any more until the latest the are sold. I don't have the room for anymore anyway! I've got a few ideas for an LP style build so we probably take some time drawing that up.

@liebe Thanks Dan, the London Plane came from a company called Timberline shop.exotichardwoods.co.uk they call it Lacewood but proper lacewood is totally different. They have it as bookmatched guitar body caps, as used in this build and also as box makers wood (3mm and 6mm thick), which is what I used on the front and back of the wine box. I haven’t tried staining it, so don’t know how well it would take it.

As for Build #3, I think I need to take a leaf out of your book and start selling them!!😃 She who must be obeyed has spoken🤣🤣 the guitar rack is full (my solution to that is to build another guitar rack!!🤣🤣🎸🎸🎸🎸
