Hello people of the guitar world.

I haven't posted for quite some time now but thought I would update you on my journey since being bitten by the guitar makers bug and hitting a milestone in guitar building. My first contact with Mark was in January 2018 and since the initial 2 builds with Mark & Carol I have now completed a further 20 builds of various types in the Isle of Man. Still can't thank Mark & Carol enough for introducing me to Guitar building and Ayr in Scotland (absolutely favourite place in the UK) and can highly recommend their courses to anyone who is thinking of starting this journey for themselves.

My last three builds have been an OM style, an 0-28 Parlour style and my take on PRS electric, now a semi hollow with an "F" hole as below.

Its great to see this website is still growing with new members even though the costs are also rising.

So keep on building

Regards

Mike J

Could not have done it without this awesome site. (and I even sold it!) lol

Now for the request for advice bit. :-)

I have a beautiful raw brass PRS bridge I want to incorporate into a new build and I am wondering what the best way to determine where relative to the scale length of the guitar I need to drill the mounting holes. I am having a bit of a tough time getting the measurements from the bridge. (I have advanced one of the saddles as far forward as comfortable and measured from there to the center point of one of the mounting holes and came up with about .25". That said I really don't want to mess this nice body blank up so perhaps someone out there has experience with one of these trems?)

Thank you!

This time I was practicing using Mahogany back and sides with abalone purfling, rosette and head stock binding. Also Using my signature Isle of Man logo. I have found that some people prefer the "bling" bits and others not so much. Found out that cedar top and mahogany back and sides are a pain to get a decent finish with nitro. Need to try a lot harder with grain filler and sealer in the flatting process. Decided to leave this one without a pickup but certainly impressed with the MiSi condenser.
