We have a limited number of workshop places every year, and it varies according to the type of guitars being built – the fee reserves one of those places for 2020 (and beyond if needed) and together we agree dates, spec and estimated costs. These build courses are intended to be flexible to accommodate as many different builders and their availability. There are 2 opportunites to come and build over a week, or spread your build over 2 or more visits (weekends or weekdays)
This Booking fee is non returnable should you change your mind and decide not to come(but you keep the merchandise etc). We will ask for a deposit of at least 25% to turn the reservation into a firm booking – at least a month before the course starts or when it is fully booked, and the full balance (plus any upgrades) is payable before the end of the course. Payments can be made in regular installments or lumps, by a variety of methods – please ask for more info
About This Course
A five day course min (set neck or bolt on) or 6-8 days( min basic thru neck), but will be offered over weekends throughout the year (Fri-Wed combinations). This is the course for those who want more scope for customisation and to make guitars with some extra spec items – eg own designs, carve top (adds a day), trem(adds a day), inlays(from a couple of hours to days !), midi etc . Each extra spec item will add time as well as some material cost and extra days are booked to make it possible. It may be that the 7 day Custom BYO courses run in the summer are more suitable. The base price is more but higher grade spec and options are built into the fee- eg laminated neck, inlay time, carving, thru neck etc
Note: we are not sure what will happen to the price of materials etc in 2020 – we will discuss any changes with students at every stage
BUILD DATE OPTIONS : 22-26 Feb, 28-31 March, 1-6th May, 27th June-5 July, AUG TBC, 18-23 Sept, 17-25th Oct , 13-18th November – if you have preferences for specific dates (weeks or weekends ) and if you want to come with a friend or in a group, please get in touch as we are working on the calendar. We often have weekend dates that are not online – please ask for more info
COST: starts FROM £1299 bolt on/set neck, £1199 Thru neck including all standard materials and parts (extra charges for upgrades etc), all daytime refreshments (inc. hot lunch but not evening meal)
B&B (ensuite) will be costed separately as it depends on your needs and what guitar you want to build. Currently B&B starts from £38 if required .
Self catering accommodation available locally, and for groups or families also -ask for information
ONE VISIT OPTIONS:
In 2020 we are also offering the option of a BYOG course spread over 1 week so some upgraded projects can be completed in one visit. We have chosen 27 June – 5 July (4th is assembly day) 17-25 Oct (24th is assembly day)
For more complex projects you will need to choose the CUSTOM BYO course (7.5/8 days)

Booking
The booking fee reserves a place on a course starting in 2020. You will also receive Guitar Magic and a T shirt and a Hat / Cap, and the choice of a fleece, Apron Polo shirt or Hoodie

About this course
We will discuss with you dates available and your preferred timescale to start and finish your project – electric builds take place along side acoustics and can include any of the dates of other BYOG courses( and local weekend dates not listed on the shop- ask for more info)
All we need to agree at the outset are start dates, although if being given as a present these can be decided with the lucky receiver after the event !
