@rkk108 Thanks I seems I did interpret the formula wrongly. Increasing the resistor will increase the top end.

@rkk108 No I haven’t tried that. Only stuck with wiring diagrams from books. Here is the formula for calculating how it would affect the frequency cut off or roll off point. Try putting in the different resistor values to see… Read more»

@rkk108 That would be useful. Guitar electronics can be confusing with so many different configurations. I’ve studied basic electronics but it doesn’t help much with guitar stuff. Having a multimeter does help.

Thanks the banjo has gone back to its owner now and my stress level has gone back down. Difficult with jobs like this not to make the repair more than the cost of the instrument. Free wood helps.

Thanks I haven’t seen this before and only have his mandolin book. For a first build I would stick with Marks course and it will be a good guitar. Tap tuning is fairly advanced.

Tap tuning takes a lot of experience. Some makers even tune after the body is closed by scraping the outside of the soundboard and tapping to get a ring.

Spring claw is chrome which is hard to solder. Probably need to file away a small part to solder onto. If you get to the copper layer that should be enough as it solders well.

No, metal forms an oxide which prevents a good solder joint. Aluminium and its alloys is one of the worst and very difficult to solder or weld. Most pots are an aluminium alloy.
