@tv101 Given the space that you managed to work in previously - that's going to seem mahoosive when you get started in there!! Not only bench space, I'll have enough clear floor space to take a step...

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

@peebee Spot on with your last comment I think that's the way round for the future. I have a PRS custom 22 fret template that I have had to shim the neck sides with .35mm cuts. I cut a slice from the ...

@boo......I think that if the neck pocket template and the neck taper template are made from the same plan, which mine were, then it should be possible to move the neck pocket template slightly rearwa...

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

I had a quick play with it today and I think it’s about .35mm out each side. I had ago at veneers off the bandsaw and without trying too hard got a couple at .58mm. So should be able to glue something...

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

I wondered if also what you could do is get the template on position and then, as it's tapered, move it back say 5mm @peebee The trouble is with that is it changes the width of the nut.

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

@peebee It happens. I tend to put a layer or 2 of masking tape around the edges if the neck pocket template where the router bit bearing will ride. It makes for a super tight neck pocket. Sometimes to...

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

@boo, I think this is what I’ll try as the gap is small and when I fit the neck on centre there is a gap both sides! Annoying but I suppose it was going to happen at some point! I am going to get some...

@rocknroller. Thanks for the reply, the template for the pocket is tapered and long so should fit somewhere along it’s length. I positioned and repositioned to make sure it was right.....but still the...

@peebee Glue some veneer to each side of your neck. When the glue has dried, use some 80 grit sandpaper on a hard, flat block to sand them down until the neck fits tight in the pocket. Make sure you s...

RE: I did it......loose neck pocket!

@peebee If I make a mistake like that it try and fit a solid piece of wood into the pocket instead of a veneer, because glued on veneers don’t route or carve very easily. It’s liable to tear because t...

Try cutting a thin bit on your bandsaw, double side tape it onto a lump of wood and use a block to sand..........
