Sigh…not a major bummer…however, i routed the neck slot joint opening about 3mm too wide…the neck fits 1mm loose on one side and 2mm on the other when centered – i haven’t yet finished carving it [or the pickup route to full depth] out completely so I’m open to suggestion…I know the glue will create some swelling on the mahogany neck and the poplar body…but, i’m wondering if I should glue at least one thin shim on the 2mm side or maybe even sneak a couple of dowels [made from the poplar scrap] under the neck joint [to be hidden by the Finish] to help secure it – or am i just being paranoid over a few mm ? I’ll try to upload some pix…I’m moving along now after my hand surgery recovery….drilling w/ long auger proved disastrous! i have to make some patch fixes now. A few chips and worse…however, i think my project will survive. I drilled the first direction attoo sharp an angle…panicked…and should’ve made a cup a tea and thought through for solutions…but went into the cavity and drilled the other direction to ‘meet’ the first path…NOT! LOL…it was worse…put a hole through the top…Sigh…so i drilled down to meet the two paths…so i can direct the pickup wires into the cavity…so i’ll make a dowel and patch & sand and hide with the finish…no major structure held in place…it will be cosmetic…drilling wasn’t as easy as it looked…and it didn’t look easy! any advice?? also..remind me how to upload pix on the forum again? thanks ya’ll – Sigh! keeping the project going…it is my first…learning curve…right! thanks.
