This is where it all started ... in a workshop in Ayr. In 2007.
I really did draw that headstock! It's seen been re-shaped ...
... it did at least reinforce that not every idea I have in the pub is a good idea.
This photo was titled "day2", so I'm guessing it was the end of day2. Which looks like a fair amount of work done already.

Can't really see what it's going to be yet ...
I found this one of the most satisfying parts of the whole course. Taking a lump of wood and carving it into something really comfortable to hold.
Now I can see what it's going to be
You mean I can really - really - fret my own neck? Really??
Yup, looks like I can!

My body is looking good ...
And now my body AND my neck are looking good. (Apart from the headstock, obvs).
(Got photo-bombed on this shot. Some guy with long hair and clothes covered in sawdust. He kept hanging 'round the workshop)
That's Day4.
Seeing for the first time out of the spray shop is one of those "wow" moments that you don't forget.
A "wow" moment up there with .... [edited].
Nearly, nearly, nearly there

The Headstock looks good to me but I imagine it was a nightmare to cut out and sand it.

First photo of my first build, completed, sitting on a chair in M&C's living room.
I probably had a smile on my face at the time. And for a few days afterwards.
Few more pics, with some better lighting
Simple Ash body, carved top, Maple neck, Ebony board. I've swapped out the pickups since the original build, and smoothed off the sharper edges of the headstock.
But it's been rock solid. Not needed any trussrod tweaking. And is as great to play today as it was on day1 back in 2007.
Incredible experience - my first Bailey BYOG course, my first self-built guitar. And an experience that I enjoyed so much that I've repeated the course (a few times) and the build experience (a lot of times!).

Cheers @Russ.
With hindsight, I decided that it was a little too pointy (I'm really not a pointy sort of person) and a bit "odd" given the rest of the guitar's design. So I modified it into something less pointy!
I use a standard headstock design now - that probably first appeared on Bailey Build #3, which'll have to be another thread, another day.

@tv1010101 I suppose you could take out some poor vocalist's eye out with it. ??
