Posted by: @boo That is really cool. I’ve never built a bass guitar, never mind a Bandsman bass. What a great idea. This forum is really good, it’s full of people with ideas and inspiration for others...

@rocknroller912 Your acoustic looks like a jumbo style, what make is it. It's a Stagg SW203.

RE: Show us yer geets then!

@james-chacewatergmail-com-2 Arch tops take a long time, it's more like carving a violin than other styles of guitar making. No running the parts through a drum sander to thickness the front and back....

RE: Show us yer geets then!

Here's mine then. Only one home build so far. The strat was bought a bit a time and assembled, I was surprised to find that the body is plywood. The Tanglewood Tomkat has been relegated to my second f...

RE: Guitar shipping boxes/packaging?

I’m not sure whether I booked a 2kg or 5kg parcel. Are you sure that the guitar, and case, comes in under 5kg? It’d have to be a light guitar, and a fairly light case ... Also, check the small print...

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

@jamesbisset Sorry to read that you didn't get a great result. You could try trimming the dowel using a sharp knife, chisel or gouge by starting from the edge and cutting towards the centre. That way ...

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

I glued in the 6mm dowel, drilled a pilot hole and then drilled out a 10mm hole with an old brad point bit. I only needed to go in about 20mm because the 6mm dowel was thoroughly bedded in at the tigh...

@rocknroller912 I would glue in a temporary dowel as a starting point then use a brad point or spade drill bit with a point to get a true round hole. Find the centre of the dowel before you glue it i...

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

Thanks all. 😀 That’s helped clear my thinking. Right enough, I’m most concerned about the strength of the glued plug. And I can’t use a longer screw because there’s a chamber 30-40mm in. Alth...

You could also use a longer screw that will go in beyond the repair if you're concerned about the strength of the glued plug.

Or you could plug the hole with a dowel, drill a 20mm (for example) recess a couple of mm deep, fit whatever inlay takes your fancy and then drill a new pilot hole for the the button screw. Darren

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

Hi James, you could add a wooden or leather washer to cover the dowel hole. Or polished stainless, they would all cover the hole and look cool. Cheers Darren
