Just looked at my Bandsman build - only 10mm from the neck pocket to the back of the body - as Matt says think it’ll work....

It’s about 12mm thick under the neck pocket, but it’s the sides of the pocket that are thin, because of the pick up rout, they are about 8mm, there is full depth before the pick up and all of the back...

Is it possible to do a decorative carve and fill with epoxy then reshape? You'd have to stop anything bleeding into channel. Could be a very cool inlay

I'm feeling your pain there. It looks like you haven't actually carved as deep as the truss rod, so how about just filling in the hole.
