@tv101, @norriemac That’s awesome man, how did you achieve the stripes look..the deeper stain of blue? I’m guessing here – but a sanding or scratching can force the pigments to recess deeper into the wood…which is usually AVOIDED, was there… Read more»

@norriemac I think I would glue the 3mm olive wood onto the headstock before gluing the fretboard in place. Then flatten off the olive wood down to level with the top face of the neck where the nut is going… Read more»

@norriemac I’m fairly sure that at 12mm it’s still strong enough, but better wait for the experts to advise you on that. Adding your 3mm olive wood will certainly give you the thickness you need and I’d use the regular… Read more»

Hi Norrie,
I would say yes to both questions…….and I’d just use titebond original for every glue job except when gluing the fretboard to the body….then use hide glue.

It might have been badly dried causing cracks. Was the olive wood hard to glue. - Load More
