@robin you can get retangles of abalone and stuff off ebay, that's what I did with a view to chopping them up to make an inlay. Mind you, i fancy doing a scaley dragon or something down a fretboard...

@rathius I use regular car matt 1k, so simple, dry sand very lightly after to remove any overspray or that but there's none of this wet sanding or polishing. I ALWAYS sand through gloss lol Look at...

@kalimar old maple and mahogany floor boards make nice necks, just trim off the nail holes. For the body any hardwood will do really, just need to be mindful of the weight, Some woods are really heavy...

@kalimar Totally finet, usually about 7 minimum, my headstocks are usually 7 - 10 or so and all work perfect without string trees. There's no exact rule on it.
