RE: Ever get the feeling that a build is cursed?

@rathius I use regular car matt 1k, so simple, dry sand very lightly after to remove any overspray or that but there's none of this wet sanding or polishing. I ALWAYS sand through gloss lol Look at...

RE: Kalimar's First Guitar Build from Scratch

@kalimar old maple and mahogany floor boards make nice necks, just trim off the nail holes. For the body any hardwood will do really, just need to be mindful of the weight, Some woods are really heavy...

RE: Kalimar's First Guitar Build from Scratch

@kalimar Over as laminate, it's about 1.5mm thick or so but I like to match the face of the headstock to the body wood.

RE: Ever get the feeling that a build is cursed?

Got enough thickness to take the top of the neck down? Remember to include the fretboard thickness. Like if you want 21mm at the first and your board is 6mm then minimum neck thickness is 15mm and so ...

RE: Headstock angle jig

@kalimar Totally finet, usually about 7 minimum, my headstocks are usually 7 - 10 or so and all work perfect without string trees. There's no exact rule on it.

I often stick scraps together to make bigger pieces for cavity covers and headstock plates like this one. Attachment : 20230519_010153.jpg

RE: New black limba build

Did some of the cutting out of the inner horns and planed the fretboard sides to make room for binding, so far so good. Attachment : 20230612_170603.jpg Attachment : 20230612_170725.jpg

RE: At it again #3

@swepri I find getting the drills to go exactly where you want them can be a bit of a fight lol. Small bits with the hand drill aren't so bad, you just tilt the drill to move things about when doing t...

RE: 5 way oak switch instead of 3 way

@kalimar push pull is very simple and definitely the easy way to go. With the split wires that go to the split switch, I stick a 2.2k resistor inline, this gives you a fatter single coil sound and les...
