if you have any finer grade then try sticking some onto a flat surface and use that to take out the scratches -

Vertical is just as good I think, but it’s important to see the edge as you are working. Weekend is probably better as I can get daylight. How does Saturday at 3pm sound. Hope the Jitsi still works. -

@tv101 Sharpening gouges depends on whether the bevel is on the inside or outside, known as in cannel or out cannel. I have some of the stones which Russ looked at and they are more used for removing the edge… Read more»

Yes tap tuning. Some makers also tune the sound board after the sound box is assembled by tapping and listening to the vibrations. Then they scrape away shavings on the outside until they are happy.

@tv101 People often tune the back and front to a set interval, say 5th apart, C for the back and G for the front. Some use an electronic tuner and some do it by ear. Removing wood lowers the frequency… Read more»

Brilliant film. I was multitasking but had to stop everything else to give it my full attention. Love the headstock carving with hand tools. Also the use of egg white to seal the soundboard was interesting, similar to traditional artists… Read more»
