RE: Fret Jig

@swepri yeah, or half a saw width? Which I understand to be 0.29mm, but I think you are probably right in that the difference is not big enough to change intonation.

RE: Fret Jig

@simecircle Check your jig using a fret space calculator. Maybe some templates are already compensated and others are not? On the other hand, the difference is only half a tang width, so maybe it does...

RE: Fret Jig

@swepri yes, that's exactly what I am thinking - especially if you compare to a zero fret! I don't think my jig does this and I notice that difference on yours is quite pronounced? Anyway, thank you s...

RE: Fret Jig

@nsj thank you kindly for the response - my jig does not appear to be offset to be honest.

RE: Fret Jig

@simecircle Yes there should be a tiny offset, at least compared to using a zero fret. I have a template from Rall, and there is markings for Saddle/Zero fret. The slot for this is a tiny bit wider an...

RE: Fret Jig

Well you're cutting the standard fret slot where the nut goes anyway, the jig usually has it as one of the notches to line up so in theory that already happens. Certainly never had a problem yet mysel...

RE: Explorer (or maybe LP) with Floyd Rose

yep, I picked up a router template set, so that should help, but never underestimate the level of my ineptitude 😉 Thank you for the pointer as far as the Gotoh - I’ll definitely keep that in mind for ...

RE: Explorer (or maybe LP) with Floyd Rose

@swepri thank you for your suggestion. I really don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself! My old garden bench is in the workshop waiting to be up cycled into something, so I’ve got loads of cheap,...

RE: Explorer (or maybe LP) with Floyd Rose

@steveh musiclily do a decent routing template, only thing missing is the recess for the floyd but that's not to hard to knock up. I'd recommend grabbing a gotoh floyd, 150 ish but fantastic units....

Inexperienced Guitar Maker (aspiring) from Reading - Hi!

Hi there I've made a couple of guitars and was looking for a friendly place to ask stupid questions. Would this fit the bill? Some of the forums seem to be for people following the courses only, so ...

RE: Explorer (or maybe LP) with Floyd Rose

@steveh Planning and drawing is a useful start. Maybe you could try out the necessary routing for the trem on a cheap piece of wood, to confirm. How is samba wood to work with? I have only used Bosse ...

RE: Going the other way this time-A Baritone?

@wolframmalukker I went for a simpler "f-hole". I just did a weight relief chamber on one side of the body and added the f-hole for looks. I forgot to seal the inside of the chamber for moisture, tho...

RE: Going the other way this time-A Baritone?

Haven't had time to fool with this over the summer. Things have gotten away from me a bit but I now have 14 guitar pedal designs up through the engineering sample phase, 5 of them are production ready...
