RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@swepri me three but they've always been A for audio and B for linear. No idea where anyone buys the back to front crazy pots lol

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@tv101 excuse me, I'd like to buy some pots off you, could you send them out so I can test them before paying? Thanks 🤣

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@nsj I've got to ask, where did you find these weirdo pots? These were amongst a job lot of harnesses from ebay, somebody clearing out their junk boxes. I've only got myself to blame.

As the man says in the book (which was literally within arm's reach when I read your post!) "my advice is to ignore any codes and test".

So, that's a "maybe" ?? The answer - of course - is just to ignore the tone pots. Never use them ... 😉

@koendb always the same, you go to bed then wake up to another change in what you know to further complicate your life 🤣

@robin I've got to ask, where did you find these weirdo pots? 🤣 I generally stick with alpha and cts for the most part as I can get both in metric which means an 8mm shaft, the metal nobs I...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@swepri every pot for guitar I ever see is either china, japan or usa made anyway, can't say I've ever seen a european pot. Seen reference to vintage pots using a C though lol

@nsj how sure are you? I'm as sure as absolutely certain.

Yeah same here, I never heard about this, but that does not mean it does not exist of course. For guitar I always use LOG anyway, so I order LOG pots specifically.

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin how sure are you? It's how they sound that I notice them. Audio taper sounds gradual, Linear sounds like a switch lol. Every A and B pot I've used has sounded as it should.

RE: I made a thing

@tv101 Well, James Bisset Volume 1 didn’t get onto the longlist for Scottish Album of the Year Award, but it did get onto TV’s gizmo. I know which one means most to me.

RE: I made a thing

I did check out the website @rathius, and it looked pretty dormant. Shame as putting it into a case with a screen seemed like a good idea to simplify the cabling. Guess, on Kickstarter, some you win ...

RE: My first laminated semi-hollowbody

It’s a good idea / way of testing out the impact of the different positions on the sounds, but it’s only going to give a rough approximation, even relatively. You really need a pre-amp in there too to...

@robin I had thought that position 5 would be a good combination of 1 and 2, but now I don’t know...
