I've had a Raspberry Pi set-up as a media server for a while, but headless and controlled via a browser app on a separate device. Plus it was in a bit of a naff perspex box.
But it all worked quite well - I've got somewhere over 500Gb of MP3 files on a couple of microSD cards plugged into the Pi's USB ports, and then all it needs is USB-C power in, and your audio output of choice (mine is usually plugged into hifi via the standard RCA cables).
But I was bored and wanted another little project, so here's the result ....
It's now got a 5" touchscreen controller too! The display / controllers all update in real-time, so whatever you do on the touchscreen immediately updates the status of the browser app (and vice-versa), so I can use either/or/both to control playback etc now.
I reckon that, if I could shrink the size a little and make it rechargeable-battery powered and wrap it in a sexy looking white case, there might be a market for this sort of product?
5mins on the CNC machine;
A perfectly fitting stand for the screen, angling it back from the vertical very slightly. That's a piece of cork to give the bottom of the screen a little protection. The slot in front of that is because I might just slot in a front cover too.

@tv101 I don’t use it at all anymore. Their software wasn’t quite up to snuff. Dunno if they ever updated it or not but it didn’t work as well as I had hoped nor as well as they had planned. At least it seemed that way to me.
I think a lot of their issues were amplified by the pandemic, just like so many other projects on kickstarter from 2020-2022. I had backed several projects in 2019 that were projected to be delivered late ‘19 or early ‘20. I got the last item in January of ‘22. Yeah, we backers were given a lesson in patience then that’s for sure.
I have several Pis though. Got my first one in 2015. I have 2 Pi4, a Pi3, Pi2, PiB (I think that was the 2nd gen of the first board), and a PiZero. Love the little things. The Pi4 is a decent little computer that’s as capable as any of these HP mini servers I’ve installed in retail businesses. They’re powerful enough to run self-checkouts. Heck the 4 is powerful enough to give plenty of laptops, albeit the cheaper ones, a tough run for the money.
But the RasPad3 is sitting in a box out in the shop not being used for anything. Hmm, now I gotta go dig it out of the box and see if it’s still alive. 🤣🤣🤣

I did check out the website @rathius, and it looked pretty dormant. Shame as putting it into a case with a screen seemed like a good idea to simplify the cabling.
Guess, on Kickstarter, some you win and some you don’t, but a good way to see new product concepts.

@tv101 Well, James Bisset Volume 1 didn’t get onto the longlist for Scottish Album of the Year Award, but it did get onto TV’s gizmo.
I know which one means most to me.
Jack of all trades and master of my own destiny. It’s only a small destiny.
