Make the neck normal size
@markbailey That’s good to know Mark, thanks very much. @tv101 it will still be interesting to see what those measurements are. There is no rush now though. 👍

When you say “short scale” – how short?
@tv101 Thanks, that would be a big help.
Short scale as in standard Gibson 24.75” -

@tv101 Very true Tony. I was brainwashed by Fender from a very young and impressionable age. I would have one of every model they’ve ever made…….. I’d probably even buy up all the Music Man guitars by Leo as well……….how… Read more»

What bridge are you using on the build? @tv101 Thanks for your help Tony, I am getting myself tied up in knots! Im thinking of using this Schaller bridge to match the 50mm spaced bridge pickup. https://www.allparts.uk.com/products/schaller-non-tremolo-brass-guitar-bridge-w-adjustable-spacing-2-inch-2-1-4-inch-50mm-56-5mm I know all of… Read m…[Read more]

the headstock is as big as it needs to be, and no bigger.
I might have to add a little bump on the end to have room for my logo, I hadn’t really thought that one through.

I designed it with the aim of keeping the strings as straight as sensibly possible
This is headstock style I’m using in my next build, the strings don’t get much straighter than that.

But neither has the power take-off thing to auto-switch the extraction @tv101 With the extractor added in as well, the full setup is actually about £800 give or take, bit better than I thought. It’s still £800 I haven’t got…. Read more»

@tv101 Another reason the electric version is better than the air version is that you don’t have to put up with the airline plugged in to the sander, it can get heavy and irritating. This is the one I want. https://www.axminstertools.com/mirka-deros-5650cv-random-orbit-sander-503855

Boo replied to the topic "Sat 1pm LIVE – Penny Carving" – 4 years, 7 months ago
For the electric one, can you not fix it so that turning the sander on auto turns on the vacuum at the same time? @tv101 Yeah, it’s all automatic, the two work together. You plug the sander into the vacuum… Read more»

@tv101
Hi Tony, just checked out the Mirka hand sanding blocks. I didn’t know they existed. Looks like a great cheaper alternative……. although I would like an electric one.

@tv101
My next build that I’m drawing up now has narrower tapered headstock, based on a Tanglewood Tomkat that I have. It’s similar to the Bailey headstock too, and like you say, not so much space there. -
