RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@brie I accidently missed the neck angle on my first guitar and the solution was making a 2mm deep recess under the wraparound bridge. I made the recess larger, with rounded corners and it turned out ...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin Just another thought... It could be worth checking the A string nut slot to make sure the string leaves crisp right at the end of the slot.

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin I’ve often pondered the question of sinking a bridge into the body as an alternative to achieving an accurate neck back angle to give a nice low string action. Seems viable to me but , as I’m j...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin just leave loads of winds on the pegs, that way you can reuse them if it doesn't fix the problem. I don't really worry about tuning stability at that stage, just saving the strings lol

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@boo I think the only way to fix the problem is to peg the bridge holes and re drill in the correct place Yes, I fully expect to be plugging and drilling bridge holes, but I'll definitely try new s...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin Yeah, the intonation always needs adjusting if you change string gauge. Maybe not a lot but it will need some. I don’t think that will give you enough adjustment in terms of scale length though...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin if the strings are old they could be causing intonation problems, I had a bad G with a set of elixir and they were brand new! Intonation was awful. New string and boom! Sorted. The A string ...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin I think it would get worse with thicker strings, needing longer free length. Maybe a bridge with a little more adjustment range could fix it? If you have another A string, you could try that fi...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

I'm not very happy with the intonation on this build, I should have angled the bridge a bit more. The A string is still a bit sharp with the bridge adjusted as far as it will go. If I tried thicker st...
