Darren @Bagpress says…
“A huge time saver for all luthiers making electric guitars with either set or bolt on necks, here is the solution to accurately machining the neck pocket on electric guitar bodies.
This jig is fully adjustable to the exact geometry of your guitar neck and is used to create a bespoke routing template to match. The copied template is then clamped to your guitar body blank and the neck pocket routed out using a bearing guided template cutter as shown (but not included). In the photos a dummy neck section made from MDF was used and the final pocket machined in the second piece of MDF was so accurate that the ‘neck’ fitted perfectly in the recess and could be used to pick it up.
Further adjustments to the fit can be made by the lateral positioning of the template relative to the body (for tapered neck heels) or by applying a layer(s) of tape to the area of the jig where the cutter guide bearing runs.”
