@nickkuk Sounds like you have everything under control, I agree with all of that. 
Yeah I think that when things are rough cut, it reminds me of Ceefax graphics from the 80s and 90s. 😂

Used a small router to hog out the majority to the waste, then fine cut the rest out with chisels. Glued one in and left it overnight. I’ll plane it down today and sand it flush.

Made my butterflies in inlay along the joint. 

Used a straight edge and my circular saw to cut a groove for the Cherry strip.

It’s fine, don’t worry about it, that’s where they are supposed to be. Don’t forget that the direction of the strings are heading for the outside edge of the posts, not the centre of them.
