Hi guys!
I've been scouring the internet high and low for the past few months for information regarding Gibson ES-335 guitars from the iconic 1959-1960 era. I want to have a go at building something very much like it, but I've hit a stumbling block. I want to use a CNC to cut a mould which will shape the top and back contours from inside a vacuum bag. I've seen similar things attempted on this forum.
I'm using the fantastic plans by Pat Sharkey which I have seen others referring to on the forum. These plans have measurements for the contours, but how do I get from lines on a piece of paper, to a robot precision slicing it from finest MDF, I don't know. Does anyone have the CAD for cutting an ES-335 mould, or alternatively would anyone be able to help me develop it? I've been asking all over the place, and would really appreciate the help.
Thanks
Michael
Do you have access to a CNC to use it? If so there will be an associated CAD program that the owner uses. I would suggest you start by finding that out then looking into how to program with it. I think its unlikely that a program already exists.
You could always go on to something like Fiver where you can pitch for someone to design things for you. I've never tried it but I would be surprised if there wasn't 3D modellers selling their services.
