Go for it! You get better the more guitars you make! I make a lot now I have retired. Here are some I have built from scratch. They are all short scale 30".

Latest build all done based on the guitar used by Joe Satriani, ibanez JS2450
Body is poplar, maple neck, ebony board, gotoh hardware and warman pickups. Bridge is the zebra with an A5 magnet swapped in and neck the peacemaker. Colour is candy orange from kustom canz.
