Hi Guys

I've been using a small palm router which doesnt have a spring loaded plunge and is becoming quite annoying so I thought it's time to upgrade..

Any reccomendations gladly received. I dont have a big budget, but looking for advice on makes, minimum speed and depth etc???

thanks in advance guys

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve, I'm well chuffed with my Triton JOF001 router. 1000 watt, plenty power for guitar building and it comes with some nice, handy features. And an extended baseplate, so you can rout your headstocks to the correct thickness.....

In Holland they are going for 169 euro, so 150 quid in the UK methinks?

Measure once, cut straight away and maybe you're lucky......

Hi Steve

Don't go too big with the router. Mine is a 30 year old 1/2"  1200 Watt, far too big, heavy and clumsy.

I'd go for a 1/4" rather than 1/2" - get the best one you can afford (or two!)

Measure twice, cut once...

If they are still available I highly rate this DeWalt for other reason than the dust extraction is excellent. The dust gets sucked up through one of the plunge tubes so you extractor connects to the top of the router rather than getting in the way of your view of the cut.

DEWALT DW621 Plunge Router
