Over the past few days, I've been listening to a lot of Velvets stuff whilst at work (I'm WFH permanently, so can have music playing when not on calls!).
Album of choice has been the VU album, all 6 discs of the Super Deluxe, 45th anniversary, edition.
But rather than unfairly picking any one of those tracks, I'll post a thought instead.
When that album was released (1969), or when LZ IV was released, or when many other albums of that era were released, it must have been a ground-breaking, WOW, moment when people first heard them. New, fresh, exciting, like nothing before. And they weren't one-off groups either, they repeatedly released new, fresh, exciting stuff.

For me @tv101, it was the Black Keys. I was introduced to them back in 2004 just before the release of their third album "Rubber Factory". They were just what I'd been looking for. They became a bit more popular/commercial around 2010 with the release of their album "Brothers". I've still enjoyed their music since that period but their albums prior to this just do it a bit more for me. I remember reading an article where Robert Plant was raving about them.

@russ Yeah, they have always been a superb rock band and they are still writing great music like this. What a wonderful career they have had and brought the world a lot of joy, god knows the world need it right now. 🌍

@russ yeah you gotta have that neck pickup wired backwards to get the beginnings of his sound. Pure accident too they claim. Seems there were a few that happened to leave the factory like that and Mr. Green was one of those lucky (or unlucky depending on your perspective) enough to get one. What is it Bob Ross said? We don’t make mistakes we have happy accidents? 😂
