well of course I know who he is but to be honest I’m not that familiar with what he did or didn’t do...
@mattbeels You don’t want to know. 🐷🐽
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
It doesn’t matter to me that there is no Ozzy, this is a great song and RJD is one of my all time favourite singers. Technically he is a much better singer than Ozzy but Ozzy is still amazing and another one of my favourite singers. They just bring a different dynamic tho Black Sabbath and I love them both. 🤘😁🤘
Well said, not much one could add to that really... but I’ll blather on a bit anyway 🤪
I love Sabbath with Ozzy, the classic stuff is my favorite. The two albums that they did with Ronnie are also great. Ozzy has a unique sounding voice, a funny character and charm. I looooove his first two solo albums especially because of the amazing Randy Rhoads.
But clearly Ronnie was a “proper” vocalist who could sing rings around Ozzy even on a bad day. Did you know that he never warmed up? He would just hit the stage and go, pretty crazy but that guy had what it took. If you haven’t seen the Pick of Destiny (and you really should as it’s hilarious) then there’s a sweet RJD cameo waiting for you. 😉

Your right @mattbeels. In my opinion there is only one Black Sabbath. Although I chose that song as the best song I think of them as a completely different band really..... they just happened to call themselves Black Sabbath. Interestingly the Dio lineup changed their name to Heaven & Hell later when it was rumoured that Ozzy would be rejoining.

it’s time to blow the doors down with VAN HALEN!
@mattbeels AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH......... You can’t do this to me, how can I possibly choose a favourite/best VH song, especially off the first album? 😭😭😭😭
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
Aww, it’s not so hard... for me I tend to shy away from “a” favorite or “the” best. I have several favorites and I just go from there... with VH there are so many good ones to choose from, personally I could do that all day. So fook it, here’s another one:

WHY Jump?
Well, final year of Uni.
3 young gentlemen, hard-working students all, house-sharing a couple of miles off campus.
In some weird twist of fate, within <100yds of study-central (it was, basically, an extension of the university library, such was the atmosphere of quiet study and diligent research), both a pub, and a chip shop.
As well as being unusually studious, we were also very aware of the importance of a balanced diet, and we were generally very careful to balance an intake of beer, with the consumption of vegetables (potatoes mainly, sliced & fried) and that well-known brain enhancing food - fish. Also generally fried. Sometimes, if we’d exceeded a sensible beer intake, we’d add some red “meat” to the meal. A sausage. Fried.
Why the background?
The pub had a bar billiards table, and a jukebox. We spent a *lot* of time discussing the finer points of our studies over a game or fifteen of bar billiards.
And “Jump” was ALWAYS on the jukebox.

WHY?
Sabbath were the first band I ever saw live (co-incidentally, Van Halen were support!) on the Never Say Die tour.
So, that’s the first song in my head for Sabbath.
As for “best” - there are probably a dozen (or more?) equally valid candidates over the first 4-5 albums ...

This is The Best Song by Van Halen I've heard..........
I went off that one a bit @russ, once I’d learned to play it and realised how simple it was.
Then I learned to play it left-handed, for a bit of extra challenge.
Then I learned to play it left-handed, behind my head.
Then I woke up ....
