Yeah im not done with #3 yet and I’ve already started on another. 🤣🤣🤣 I love this though.
So build #4 was inspired by 3 Gibson guitars. The Les Paul, the SG (I thought it funny when I was reading some Gibson history and they claimed SG stood for Solid Guitar 😂. Gotta give it to them for originality on the name 😂), and the ES-335.
I plan to add the same binding on the body. All the lines you see drawn on I am going to trace and make patterns for carving the top of the next one of these I build. Hopefully I’ll have the veneer glued on by Sunday. Also hope to have the neck for build #3 ready by then.
I have the neck for this one almost ready to glue in but I’m still a few steps from that point. I’m carving the back of it and shewee, 80F/26.6c and a whopping 84% humidity. And I’m not done with the first belly carve but had to take a break cuz ima gonna warp the wood with me sweat 🤣.
breaks are good though. Coffee and a smoke. 😁

I’m sorry guys, I’m just terrible at documenting my builds. 🤦🏼♂️
I’ve gotten to the point of working on the finish for this one. Started working on the front on Monday and it wasn’t going the way I wanted. I was going for a sunburst and it was as if the wood said, “uhm NooOoOo, you gotta go this way.”
Hmm, ok so lemme remove these colors. I first washed it with acetone then after that dries I sanded the remaining red and yellow stain off. Almost.
What happened I believe gave me a better, and maybe more unique front than I was going for to begin with. I call it a faded sunrise. Yep sunrise. If you’re gonna be different right? 😂😂😂
The current state it’s in is I sprayed filler/primer on the neck, back, and sides yesterday. Will be sanding most of that off later today then most likely spray a couple of more coats to completely cover a few little areas. Tomorrow may be clear. I’m planning it to be.
I have become a big fan of smooth neck-to-body transition at the neck joint after my last build and have decided going forward all my builds will have that feature. Not only does it offer easier access to the higher frets (middle finger easily on fret 24 of the low E string) but I think it just looks a lot better too.
Heres several pics to bring y’all up to date on this one.
