This is going to be my winter guitar building/maintenance/playing room

Lucky man @boo!

I've got a nice big workshop which is great in summer, doors open, music playing, mess being made.  But in the winter it gets a bit chilly ...

I've got an electric oil-filled radiator in there to keep it from freezing, but it's a little uncomfortable until I do some work that builds up a sweat!

Are you going to put some sort of flooring down?  otherwise you're going to cause a lot of noise downstairs, and get a lot of sawdust between the floorboards!

@tv101 I’m only going to use it for finniting, gluing, oil finishing and assembly. All the dirty sawing, planing, routing etc, I’ll do in my cold garage, also with an oil filled electric radiator.

@clinton

Well, I also made some kerfing planes in different width kerf sizes. 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 inch

You're a very resourceful guy, I'm going to have to add a frame saw and kerf plane to my future projects list. Do you think an adjustable width kerf plane would be possible and practical.

@robin For sure. Wished I did that at the time instead of making several.

@clinton Wow! Those videos show an amazing high level of skill and method don’t they? It’s very relaxing to sit and watch them, I love stuff like that. Thanks for posting them.

@clinton  Thanks for the videos, they're fantastic. Wooden screw threads are beyond me but I'm sure I could do something with nuts and bolts.

I happened to stumble on these videos. Light bulb moment and so I made my own, only bcause I got a hold of a 2 inch thick Spruce board, had it for years and I wanted to be able to cut acoustic soundboards. My bandsaw is not deep enough to cut thin boards. This frame saw and kerfing plane works like a charm.

@robin I made a video of how I made this. The simpler version. Will search in my computer and post a link.

That's just raised the standard for build threads @clinton!  Looks like a really nice neck too.

👍

I recommend every guitar builder should have a centre ruler, they are perfect for the job. Mine is from StewMac but Crimson Guitars have them as well.
