In July 2004 I went to Scotland to build a guitar in a week on the course of guitar maker Mark Bailey. And with that I was hooked. In the years since, I went to him four more times, all four times to build a bass. After the last course at Bailey Guitars, I decided to try and give it ago at home. That was in the fall of 2011. I have built 7 guitars and 9 basses since then. This was my first, a Tele.
So I cleaned out my tiny shed, bought some templates, bought some tools and wood and started. I made many mistakes (and still do) but one learns from his mistakes, so over the years I've learned a lot!
I gave this guitar to my second cousin Koen, who has Down syndrome and loves music.

I know that feeling well @marcel
That Tele build looks to have turned out pretty well though!

It's all the little flaws features that make it special though.
It's not an identikit, off a production line, mass produced thing that you can pick off any shop wall.
Something handmade will always have little features, all part of the uniqueness.

I did exactly the same thing @marcel, I cleared out my garage and kitted it out with tools for guitar making. I is a struggle to keep it all tidy and it’s been a real mess at times but I still manage to build guitars. I also continue to make mistakes but I like to think I learn from them and don’t make the same ones again. Nice Tele build too, love it!
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
