RE: New member from Slamannan

@tv101 @Rocknroller912 Then drill through the cap into the middle of the p'up cavities - the hole just needs to be big enough for a router bit to fit through. I did my LP'ish body the opposite wa...

RE: New member from Slamannan

@tv101 I probably would have worked it out eventually, I’m a bit rusty after having a long lay off from guitar stuff and using power tools. Mostly I’ve been using hand tools.

RE: New member from Slamannan

I've got the templates @Boo, if you want to make yourself a LP-alike? If I've got some suitably sized MDF, I could make a set of copies for the body, cavities, etc. Then you'd just need a straight thi...

You're welcome @rocknroller912 As Mark is fond of saying - it's just a matter of breaking things down into simple steps and then there's usually a way of getting the job done. There are probably other...

Rush are awesome. Tom Sawyer is like Stairway to Heaven, a great song but overplayed to death by American radio. I still like it though and Moving Pictures is an obvious classic. Some of my favorites ...

RE: New member from Slamannan

@rocknroller912 *Before* you put the cap on (assuming that's what you're going to do), rout the cavities into the body. And the wiring channels too. Do *NOT* forget the wiring channel up to the p'up...

@tv101 You mentioned that you’ve made an LP style so I’m looking for some advice please about how to route the pick up cavities. Obviously a flat template isn’t going to work very well either before o...

You're really not far wrong there, Although I thought I was probably exaggerating, I've spent enough time driving around the West coast of Scotland to know that it probably wasn't a huge exaggeration...

@tv101 Or, about 100miles away on Scottish roads. Which is generally about 20miles as the crow flies on the West coast ... You're really not far wrong there, it's a 130 mile drive there, 60 miles ...

No worries Robin. I was pretty sure that I had some when I posted last night, but didn't want to offer it until I'd checked today. You do realise that the bit @Boo sends you will be painted in pink gl...

@robin I would say that’s a pretty good repair and it looks like the grain lines match. Don’t be put off by how many attempts it takes before you are happy with it. I’ve seen web posts from top profes...

RE: Robin's build #002

@boo Thanks for that, you're a star. @Rocknroller912 I took your advice and chiselled a bit out to make a straight line and glued a piece in. I had two goes at it, my first effort was pathetic so I c...

RE: Robin's build #002

@robin Good luck. Repairs and restorations are about deceiving the eye, so straight lines don’t always have to be at 90 deg they can be at an angle to match grain lines.
