I have just made, for practice, a bolt on Tele neck out of a nasty bit of pine. I even Routed the truss rod channel, then cut a 8mm slice off another piece of nasty pine and made a fret board, radiuse...

@rockpile99 I laminated poplar for a neck from a futon couch/bed frame. Pretty solid. Watch out for the knots in pine. They tend to fall out when tou hit it with the rasp.
