@liebe It’s designed to go straight on wood, it’s a hardwax oil. This guy uses hardwax oil over stain without anything else. Same sort of thing, just different brand. Try it on a test piece.

@liebe Sweet T guitars on youtube would be the guy to check out regarding using it with stains. I tend to just go natural.

@rathius I was thinking like a tree, dragon etc. Could fill with resin, getting the hang of that now. The secret is a tiny amount of pigment, then you can get patterns in the resin instead of a solid block… Read more»

@rathius A dark wood headstock plate is perfect for hiding everything though! Superglue and sawdust, brilliant on the likes of ebony or that.

I can tell you now I’m not that good with the dremmel router! 🤣ย

@boo it would take an awful lot of soldering to get any harm from the lead, not nearly big enough amounts. It’s like a lot of things, 2k spray etc, the danger can come from using it all day everyday.

NSJ replied to the topic "Hello from Nampa Idaho USA" – 2 years, 2 months ago
@boo Heat the item, add the solder lol. And use leaded, that lead free stuff is naff, I can do everything with a simple 30 watt iron using leaded stuff.

Got the trussrod slot routed, headstock angle done and fretboard glued and clamped. I like cutting the headstock angle wide of the line with the bandsaw then using a handplane to bring it into place.
