@rathius you have to dribble it into the slot before banging the fret in, you can use wood glue like titebond original too, cleans up with a damp cloth. The glue doesn’t so much hold the fret in as fill… Read more»

Turns out the binding is to yelllow when you get it in good light but I have more browny coloured cream binding on the way which should match the pickups better, it’s more yellow than it looks in the pic. … Read more»

@rathius I use regular car matt 1k, so simple, dry sand very lightly after to remove any overspray or that but there’s none of this wet sanding or polishing. I ALWAYS sand through gloss lol Look at the sheen… Read more»

@kalimar old maple and mahogany floor boards make nice necks, just trim off the nail holes. For the body any hardwood will do really, just need to be mindful of the weight, Some woods are really heavy.

@kalimar Over as laminate, it’s about 1.5mm thick or so but I like to match the face of the headstock to the body wood.

@kalimar Totally finet, usually about 7 minimum, my headstocks are usually 7 – 10 or so and all work perfect without string trees. There’s no exact rule on it.

I often stick scraps together to make bigger pieces for cavity covers and headstock plates like this one.
