RE: Second build

After a brief hiatus, I've moved on with carving the neck profile, radiusing the board, installing front dots and adding a headplate. I seem to be making design decisions a bit on the fly. The positio...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

It is the MicroJig system with dovetail grooves. The clamps costs an arm and a leg, but it is worth every swedish krona.

RE: Let's try a bolt on

@swepri Fantastic! Hey, I like your hold down clamping bench, I may have to make one of those. I’m just in the middle of making a proper workbench, it’s absolutely solid. I’m going to order a big face...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

@liebe I followed the great step-by-step process from @boo that he posted in this thread: I admit, drilling the access hole was not the easiest step. I also prepared a bit more than in the pictures a...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

@russ By the looks of it, the result is very consistent. I had no problems with fret ends springing up and they all seems to be seated properly. I have not checked or leveled the frets yet, but I expe...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

Nice work @swepri. Do you get better results with the fret press and is it easier than hammering them in? 🙂🎸🎶🙏

Fantastic, looks like you’ve done a great job of that. Good shooting with the truss rod access hole and great transition curve from the headstock to the nut area. The issue with the images loading in...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

Today I pressed the frets in with my brand new fret press. It is a bit fiddly to use the press, but the end result is more consistent than using a hammer, in my opinion. Filed the sharp fret ends down...

Let's try a bolt on

So far, I have only made set neck guitars. Time to try something else - a jazzmaster inspired build. I got some great advice from @Boo on making the neck, so I started out. I bought some maple last su...

Got the comfort carves done today. I had a go with the grinder and sanding disc on the arm carve but gave that up and went back to good old hand tools. Attachment : 1000028878-01.jpeg Atta...

Nice work @robin. If you're happy for a wee bit of advice.....I would leave the braces a little long until after you've carved them. It makes it easier to mark out on your sides where you need to notc...
