@tv101 Yes I thought it looked like our Guitar Jedi Master’s workshop! It is an outstanding guitar and I am very pleased that you love it so much. It does inspire me to continue on this guitar building journey and… Read more»

@tv101
It does look stunning Tony, I’m guessing it was your first Bailey build. -

It’s pretty much a harmless hobby!
@tv101 I’m in debt but it’s nothing to do with guitars, honest! 😁

@tv101 Very droll! It’s not so much the banging, its the driving all those little wedges in with no way of countering the force they collectively apply. I might try squishing the tang a little with a pair of parallel… Read more»

There’s a guy in the US talks a good wall-build – and he’s looking for a new job.
If he can get my neighbour to pay for it, then the job is his.

I’ve got an oil filled rad in my workshop
Oh, the luxury of electricity, it’ll never catch on.

@tv101 A quick search revealed the song was written in the 1920’s. The version you (and I) heard on the radio in the sixties was from The Sandpipers.

Do keep all this written down somewhere? @tv101 No, I attribute certain dates to certain events in my life. I am dyslexic so my brain works differently. I did an honours degree as a mature student and graduated in 2013… Read more»

Anyone else still *buying* guitars, and if so … why? @tv101 I think the last one I bought was in about 2015 because I’ve always wanted one from being a kid. This is my Ibanez JEM 77P in Black and… Read more»

Make the neck normal size
@markbailey That’s good to know Mark, thanks very much. @tv101 it will still be interesting to see what those measurements are. There is no rush now though. 👍

Boo replied to the topic "Short scale advice" – 5 years, 6 months ago
When you say “short scale” – how short?
@tv101 Thanks, that would be a big help.
Short scale as in standard Gibson 24.75” -

@tv101 Very true Tony. I was brainwashed by Fender from a very young and impressionable age. I would have one of every model they’ve ever made…….. I’d probably even buy up all the Music Man guitars by Leo as well……….how… Read more»

What bridge are you using on the build? @tv101 Thanks for your help Tony, I am getting myself tied up in knots! Im thinking of using this Schaller bridge to match the 50mm spaced bridge pickup. https://www.allparts.uk.com/products/schaller-non-tremolo-brass-guitar-bridge-w-adjustable-spacing-2-inch-2-1-4-inch-50mm-56-5mm I know all of… Read m…[Read more]

Robin replied to the topic "Waterslide Transfers" – 5 years, 6 months ago
the headstock is as big as it needs to be, and no bigger.
I might have to add a little bump on the end to have room for my logo, I hadn’t really thought that one through.

Robin replied to the topic "Waterslide Transfers" – 5 years, 6 months ago
I designed it with the aim of keeping the strings as straight as sensibly possible
This is headstock style I’m using in my next build, the strings don’t get much straighter than that.

But neither has the power take-off thing to auto-switch the extraction @tv101 With the extractor added in as well, the full setup is actually about £800 give or take, bit better than I thought. It’s still £800 I haven’t got…. Read more»
