Drum roll………….

Hey, it’s got strings on!! After a huge delay in my extracting the necessary digit I have actually finished my Maccaferri Petite Bouche! No excuses, I just kept finding reasons not to spend the time buggering around shortening tuner bushes, drilling the headstock for the tuners and rounding over and polishing the ends of all the frets etc etc! Anyway, on Saturday morning I finally glued the neck on and yesterday I polished the whole thing, made the nut (actually only a string spacer due to the zero fret), fixed the tail piece and then put some strings on! Yeah ha!! I have to say that I am very pleased with it (and not a little with myself!) I’m going to take it to a local guitar techie to do the final fret dressing/recrowning (I don’t like metal work!)Β and bridge fiddling and then I just need to find a gypsy to play some jazz on it! Any recommendations @tv101? I know you have some very good connections in the jazz world 🤣 🤣Β

Here are a few pics of the final stages and one of it standing next to its electric cousin - see the family resemblance?

On a slightly less positive note, it seems that my faithful Pacer CNC router may have filled its last dust extractor bag! I am holding out hope that an engineer from Potters Bar can fit an alternative controller board and convert it to running Mach 3 but if not, then I will either have to sub out all my CNC work (not really practical) or buy a new a new one (bugger!!!!!) How does GoFundMe work?

Here are the pics.

@darrenking Wow, that is very very good indeed, stunning. Every so often something comes along that encourages me to have a go at building an acoustic and this is one of them. There have been other signs recently too.Β

Well done Darren, I’m proud of you. ✊

Thank you @koendb and @boo for your comments. Being complimented by your peers is the highest form of appreciation there is. Thanks guys.

And Boo, when you make the jump to properly hollow, I’ll do anything I can to assist.

Cheers

Darren

@darrenking

Outstanding I wish I had found this group before I spent a lot on buying a gypsy jazz

Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.

That's not too bad at all @darrenking.Β  Looks like you've mastered many of the basic skills, and - with a little more practice - you could be making some nice instruments!
