Then I made a wee truss rod cover.... shaped the same as the headstock. 🎸🎶🙏🙂
Then preparing the bridge pin holes for the strings using a reamer. Then file a wee groove into the front of each hole 🙂🙏🎶🎸
Nice fit 🎸🎶🙏🙂
Next, the saddle. Again squaring up the blank Then keep sanding and refining until it fits the saddle slot. 🙂🙏🎶🎸
Take it back out and mark out and carve out the grooves for the strings 🎸🎶🙏🙂
Next getting it to the right height and curving over the top..... 🙂🙏🎶🎸
Almost there.... just making a nut and saddle..... first get the blank to roughly the size and squared... Then start getting into shape ...
Then a bit of final sanding. ....and adding some finishing oil. 🙂🙏🎶🎸
Not a bit of fret leveling and crowning Then a wee bit of polishing up. 🎸🎶🙏🙂
@markbailey @tv101 @jamesbisset What's it like having the two of them in the same room? 🤣.....A lot of shenanigans I imagine.....🤣 Good to see yo...
Forgot to say that I hammered in a few frets before I glued on the bridge. And beveled the edges. 🎸🙂🎶🙏
Then glued it on. Use two 4mm drill bits to locate it in place then clamp it on using the three wee cauls on top and the bridge plate caul inside. ...
Once the position of the bridge is marked out I drilled two 4mm holes through the soundboard where the holes for the E strings will go. 🎸🙂🎶🙏
Cheers @boo. I did wonder whether I'd ever get there. Still haven't got round to my bandsman yet. This summer has been a bit full on with other stuff....
Then started to carve it in to shape. 🎸🙂🎶🙏
Actually, here are the pictures of the saddle that I made before I set up the location. First I squared up the bridge blank. Then I put in the ...
Next I set the bridge location. To do this you measure your scale length plus 2mm to the inside of the front edge of the saddle slot at the high...
Next I checked the string action. I made two small guages to replicate the height that the strings will sit above the fretboard. One to sit at the nut...
Then I put a 16" radius on it. Same technique as the leveling beam but with a radius block. 🎸🙂🎶🙏
Next I went on to leveling the fretboard. Just covered it in chalk and kept going with the sanding beam until I got there. 🙏🎶🙂🎸
