This Booking fee is non returnable should you change your mind and decide not to come(but you keep the merchandise etc). We will ask for a deposit of at least 25% to turn the reservation into a firm booking – at least a month before the course starts or when it is fully booked, and the full balance (plus any upgrades) is payable before the end of the course. Payments can be made in regular instalments or lumps, by a variety of methods – please ask for more info

About This Course

This is a longer course – which will enable students to build a totally custom guitar from scratch. It to runs from Saturday afternoon, aiming to finish the following Saturday evening (but keeping Sun am available). The week will be split into two building sessions… Sat afternoon for any drawings, final spec confirmation & preparation, Sun-Tues building, Wed. – day off (to rest!) Thurs-Fri. more building, with a Sat. assembly day, and the safety net of Sunday am for any tweaks….

For people with a bigger budget, who want a guitar with all the extras, and want to make it in one hit (but are less interested in the theory or building at home)

There is a higher standard of minimum spec for this course – e.g. high grade wood & caps, hardware etc included in the price. There will still be some limit to what is achievable in 8 days, but the extra time and day off will make bigger specs more achievable. The price includes a higher spec of all materials and parts to build a custom guitar  – but this does not include additional items like inlays and some more expensive parts) There is still a limit to what can be achieved in the time, but it is possible to do a carve top and a trem on this course
Price of parts etc may increase during 2020- we will discuss any cost implications with students

We will discuss all the spec details before you come and our design checklist will outline what is included in the fees – all daily refreshments and 2 evening meals on our “late” nights are included

The base price does NOT include accommodation or upgrades – it will be £1999 plus the costs of 8 nights B&B or self catering at around £40 per night .ASk if you wish to bring a partner, family or friend  – we can recommend a variety of different accommodation

On average Deluxe CBYO guitars have cost around £2.8-3.5k (inc B&B etc) – but it is possible to spend more on upgrades, extras and hardware !

In reality this is broadly what people have been spending on these higher end guitars in the last couple of years – this course makes it easier for us all to cost  AND should mean only one visit for most custom builders. We will discuss your spec with you in more detail after you confirm your booking, and hone the detail in the time before the course.

NOTE: People who have very complex specs,  e.g. full neck inlays, plus carves, trems, bindings etc. can also take extra days on the monthly build courses (at weekends). We had a student who did a full dragon inlay up the fret board – this took almost as long to do as making the guitar itself! He also had a carve top, a master quality flame cap, and a trem, so the price of this course reflects the reality of customising.

The booking fee registers your interest in this electric guitar course, and enables you reserve a place until we have had some discussion about the guitar you have in mind, and you are certain this is the right course for you.

This is the course for those who want more scope for customisation and to make guitars with some extra spec items – eg own designs, carve top , trem, inlays(from a couple of hours to days !), custom wiring etc .  The base price is more than standard BYO courses, but this reflects the intensive nature of this course, and a higher grade base spec and with more options built into the fee eg Satin Spray

Deposits/are only kept if course places are cancelled within a month of the start date and the place cannot be filled – we are happy to transfer the booking to other dates if unforseen circumstances occur
