A big part of the fun in guitarmaking is to manufacture jigs and tools along the way. Today I made a little holder for an indicator clock, to use when filing the nut slots. Of course posh brass ones can be bought, but I can't find any in Sweden.
It is challenging to make small stuff and this is the second try (the first one split in two, hence the white oak strips for reinforcement on this one). The bottom part is a piece of alu T-track.
Another thing I learned was that the return spring on the gauge have to be rather weak. If too strong, it will press the string down and give wonky readings. Fortunately I had an old gauge which was accidently dropped on the stone floor a while ago. It got a weaker spring return after that shock. 🤔Â
very cool @swepri. I love making the tools I need and that is one of the tools that I want. At some point in the near future it will be on my to do list. Well... as soon as I can get back to guitar building. The wifes honey do list needs a little attention first. Gotta keep her happy. 🙂
