I have machined the fretboards to shape leaving about 0.7mm of thickness which I then cut through by hand and trimmed flush to the CNC'd perimeter with a trim router. These guitars have a zero fret and an extension that protrudes over the sound hole. The first and final fret slots are only about 2mm from each end so I am pretty nervous about banging in a fret for fear of the last little bit of fretboard breaking off. Would it be safer to de-tang these two frets and simply glue them in place? Previous experience any one?
