@boo

I would like to add that you too can achieve similar sexy wiring results with a bit of study and well, ahem, practice. It’s not rocket science after all. Just some bonehead easy circuits coupled with some sexy soldering really. But those big ass overpriced capacitors aren’t necessary unless your customer “can hear the difference!”

Practice on scrap...

Yes he does. A Fernandes Sustainer to be exact. I have one and they are awesome.

@mattbeels Nice, I want one too. I am willing to design and build a guitar with extra circuits so I can have one built in.
I love using my Freqout pedal by Digitech, it’s so much fun, have you tried it?

Pre-wired circuits are pretty common these days but... you’ve got to like the components they use and pay a hefty premium. They are extremely well done though...

@mattbeels For someone who is proficient at soldering etc, I bet making these guitar circuit sets is easy money, they must be raking it in.

@Boo

Top wiring tip (one of many top wiring tips).

Make yourself a little "jig" or pattern on a piece of scrap MDF.  Drill 8mm holes in the MDF to replicate where the vol/tone pots, p'up selector switch and output jack will be in the real guitar.

Place the pots, switch & jack in the MDF pattern.

Do as much wiring as you can with the components on the pattern.  Cut each piece of wire to *exact* length.  You might even be able to connect the p'ups and bridge ground wire (if you put the pattern on the back of the guitar close to the cavity).

Once you've done the wiring, just move the components from the pattern and into the control cavity.

That makes wiring - neat wiring - a *lot* easier than doing it all with the components in-situ in the cavity.

@mattbeels Yeah, I know it’s all possible, I just need to do it instead of moaning about it. I didn’t think those caps were necessary but they sure do look cool. With those caps and extremely good soldering, it would be worth having a clear cavity cover to show them off.

Nope, never even heard of it. But looks cool. I’m guessing it’s nothing like a sustainer though, right? I mean, how could it be?

@mattbeels Dunno, I’ve never used a sustainer. 🤣

@boo

Agreed! The only “drawback” to a clear cover is that you can’t have shielding.

@boo

Yeah thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely look into it as I’ve loved clear covers ever since I saw them on the Les Paul BFG and I do like a shielded cavity, now I can have both. 🤙

Onboard FX's? Been there, done that, yanked them out again..... And that's the beauty of it, you can undo it without damage... As far as batteries in my guitars, I will only go as far as active pickups. I completely love my EMG's......... (but without mid boosters, equalizers etc.)

Measure once, cut straight away and maybe you're lucky......

I am not a big fan of these kind of gimmicks on my guitars, but I can understand others like it.
