Iv'e seen others using wood to make a rear cavity cover

Absolutely!!

I try to avoid using bits of cheap plastic on my builds wherever possible.

Usually successfully!

I keep all the bits of offcuts from builds, then, when I need a cavity cover I've usually got something suitable in the pile somewhere.  Bandsaw it to ~3mm thick, then sand clean, and there's a *proper* cavity cover.

?

@johnnierox-boo   Are you buying these locally in Falkirk. I'm going home to Falkirk tomorrow for a few days, provided landslips and floods allow me to.

Now that our photos are back, here's my latest one. I tried a bit of fretboard oil where the neck cutout will be, looks like the colour will come up nicely.

Don’t spoil the surprise @robin I always get a little giddy when putting in the finishing oil and watch the wood just pop...I think it’s gonna look really nice.
