Hey builders! New to the community here... not new to building, though. I've assembled some kits in the past, and have completed two scratch builds so far, both "not so successful". I've learned a lot building from scratch, mostly that the devil is in the details... plan the work and work the plan is now my mantra...
I have three builds underway (another tele style, an LP junior dc, and am trying to create something similar to the B&G Little Sister Crossroads).
Looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to!
Hi Jaxty,
you will find a wealth of support, advice and opinion here along with some awful jokes and a pretty subversive sense of humour. It’s great, and it means that we can be all learn from everyone else’s mistakes as well as our own thus speeding our entry to guitar making Nirvana! Try to catch the live streams, they’re great fun and very informative and engaging. Keep the pics coming, we need some more of guitars surrounded by mountains and snow!
Cheers
Darren
@markbailey Thanks for the welcome! Well, the first problem is between my ears... the second problem, the fact that I just "get right to it", meaning I haven't planned them out the best (although that thinking has now shifted...). I started with the guitar bodies first, worried about the neck second, and then the fretboard last (I can hear you laughing, by the way...).
Next, I did not take the time to create any jigs that would make my life easier... I've now created a truss rod channel routing jig, and a fret slot cutting jig that will help.
Cheers!
@darrenking Thanks for the welcome! I've caught some of the live streams, very helpful. Made me realize I need to slow down, plan it out, then proceed.
No snow here yet (now that I've said it, it'll likely snow overnight).
