Hi, my name is Scott and I live near Edinburgh. I've been a maker of things for years but recently started my first electric guitar project.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't know this forum existed until right now, and resorted to using Reddit to ask questions wherever I hit a problem. Sometimes that's worked out well, sometimes... not so much!

I'm looking forward to being able to share my build, learn more and share whatever experience I've managed to pick up along the way.

Hi Scott, and welcome to the forum. There’s plenty of experience you can tap into here and we’ll look forward to you sharing your experiences with us. If you are in a position to enroll as a Premium member, Mark’s guitar making courses are second to none. Whatever you do, enjoy the ride👍😃

All the Best from a fellow Scot,

Brian👍😃🎸

Thanks Brian, I've not had a chance to look around the site much yet, but I'm sure there will be loads of good content to read up.

My plan is tto do a couple of solid body electrics but ultimately I would love to build a nice acoustic, and I'll definitely be looking into the courses for that.

@russ oh, I'm aware! I've been on this project for 18 months so far and am nearly finished. But after this I already have the next 3 planned. These ones won't take as long, hopefully!

Hey up Scott, I'm about 60 miles or so further north of Edinburger. Welcome to your new life of being poor but surrounded with guitars lol

@scotty Hello Scott, welcome to the party. You will get help here but like others have said, sign up and do the online course. Seriously, it’s the quickest way to learn everything you need or want to know. What the others have said is true, you will be poorer but surrounded with guitars. You will make mistakes, we all do, but your skills will get better and better. Knowing how to fix your mistakes will make you a better builder and move away from being a beginner, to an intermediate, to an advanced guitar maker. If you are dedicated to it, it’s not just materials that cost money, it’s the tools, the beautiful tools. 😆

We all enjoy ourselves making these instruments and that is the main point.

Send us pictures and ask questions whenever you want.

Definitely do the course though. 🤘

Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
