Thanks for posting the Michael Hedges link @frocesterbill - not someone I'd come across before, but there's a CD or two of his in my Amazon basket now.

Thank god his musical ability was stronger than his fashion sense!
Indeed.ย I think I'll stick to the CDs, and leave the concert DVDs well alone ...ย ย

Another great guitar workshop in the background!
So this guy not only plays some amazing 'slap and tickle' guitar but he also sings and has time to retune two strings (twice) every bar!!
His version of Ain't Nobody is also pretty impressive
I'm not sure Darren. I thought it might also be called a Ganuni. 🤔?
🙏🎶🎸🙂
PS another great PJ song. 👍

Another Dutch band from the seventies, and for me the best Dutch band ever, was Alquin. First time I saw them live was in 1975. They split up two years later but reunited in 2003, only with a new (and much younger) bass player. I was lucky enough to see them live several times before their definite split in 2012.

Now, while most people in the UK probably never heard of Supersister or Alquin I guess there are some who will remember the Dutch seventies band Focus. The guitarist of the band, Jan Akkerman, in those days was considered one of the best in the world. He's not one of the most sympathetic persons, but man, can he play the guitar!

I had the great misfortune to see Focus in Cardiff in 1976 I think - I had their albums and was looking forward to the gig - Jan Akkermann had left the band, possibly that day and Philip Catherine had replaced him - think they still had Akkerman's amp system (had Leslie type speakers etc) - they had no Focus songs to play and tried to improvise their way for about 30 minutes and then people just started walking out.ย Think we lasted until the end of our second pint....
Worst gig ever!
Measure once........ Measure again......... Sod it - make tea!
My favorite Dutch guitar player is Harry Sacksioni. In his teens he was not only a talented guitarist but also a very talented football player who was in the youth team of Ajax. At the age of seventeen it became clear that he was just not good enough a football player to get into the first team of Ajax so he decided that guitar playing was his future. I have been to his concerts many times and besides being a great guitarist heโs a very nice and gentle person. Heโll celebrate his 70th birthday this month and I hope heโll play the guitar forever!

I was trawling YT looking for a decent version of Harvest Moon to play along to, and I stumbled across this.
It's a little bit wierd, but that voice is not half bad and I keep replaying it!
